BUSINESS HEAD,
WEALTH MANAGEMENT

Summary

As the Business Head, Asset Management, you are responsible for upholding successful Global sales and operations by implementing business strategies and fostering business relationships. The position involves working to improve the Group’s market position and achieve financial growth. You are expected to define long-term organizational strategic goals, build key customer relationships, identify business opportunities, negotiate and close business deals and maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions. You will also work in a senior management position within the Group and it is your responsibility to work with the internal team, marketing staff, and other subsidiary business managers to increase growth and expansion opportunities and thereby maximize revenue for the Group. You are expected to exhibit pristine knowledge of the financial services and investment industry. 

Responsibilities

  • Business Head with responsibility for the overall delivery of the Sales Teams across the Group.
  • Coordinator of, with overall accountability for, total sales delivery across all segments and channels by defining, implementing and supporting sales strategies aligned to those of Personal and Business.
  • Ensuring alignment of sales strategies, activities and tactics to business objectives and to local market potential and expectations across all segments, channels and product houses.
  • Ensure that strategic directive is translated into feasible sales and sales support initiatives and marketing tactics for the Group.
  • Ensure the effective integration and coordination of all sales units into a cohesive sales platform. 

Key Responsibilities

Sales Attraction and Management

  • Formulate and implement sales attraction strategies that will facilitate the achievement of sales objectives within different subsidiaries of the Group.
  • Management of all the direct, acquisition sales functions in order to put profitable business on the books through the acquisition and retention of new-to-business customers in the appropriate segments.
  • Coordinate and drive sales activities across all products and channels to effectively improve and optimize revenue growth, expand business and improve sales productivity.
  • Coordinate and integrate all sales units, including those managed by other subsidiaries, into an effective and cohesive sales force.
  • Ensure the effective leveraging of business opportunities through personal and business interplay.
  • Monitor sales performance and identify areas of concern. Coordinate the development and implementation of corrective tactics to address underperformance.
  • Ensure effective lead generation, management and fulfilment across all subsidiaries and business partners to enhance customer value extraction.
  • Overall responsibility for the execution of all sales initiatives across the Group.
  • Identify new opportunities for the Group to engage with all stakeholders that will influence and increase business at all levels.
  • Research and analyze the local market to understand key business drivers, market changes and influences, customer behavior, opportunities, and competitor activity.
  • Develop and implement appropriate group-wide sales activities based on research findings.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses in the sales operation and ensure that suitable actions are taken to address concerns and maximize strengths.
  • Coordinate the process of ensuring the creation of adequate sales capacity and optimization of group sales resources.
  • To drive reward and recognition programs for global sales team through the appropriate line management functions.
  • Overall responsibility for ensuring the development, implementation and execution of marketing initiatives that support group business objectives.
  • Responsibility as final arbiter of channel conflict.
  • Ensure a consistent, encompassing customer experience and growing the group’s new-to-business customer base through effective and efficient on-boarding and referral process.
  • Provide feedback as efficiently as possible to the group and provide feedback to the appropriate functions regarding customer and product in order to enhance/ improve offerings.

Risk Management

  • Identify and manage business risks from both a customer and group perspective by ensuring that appropriate control mechanisms are in place to minimize risk exposure.

Cost and business management

  • Overall responsibility for delivery against group sales budget.
  • Monitor and manage sales performance, ensuring the sales tactics are monitored and adjusted as needed to remain competitive and to secure increasing market share. This includes leveraging the market and available resources to maximize profitability.
  • Ensure the prudent management of group assets.

Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain healthy working relationships with the management of subsidiaries to ensure a cooperative, collective management of an effective sales force.
  • Maintain a visible and active presence to establish new relationships and support existing relationships in order to enhance acquisition of new-to-business customers.
  • Establish and maintain an internal relationship network with key stakeholders, as well as with independent financial agents to market product and service offerings.
  • Build professional image in the network and ensure that synergies and teamwork take place in order to optimize sales delivery.
  • Act as point of entry for other subsidiaries regarding sales.
  • Foster a team approach by actively building strong working relationships with management and staff of the group.
  • Support the change manager regarding any change initiatives to be implemented to reduce disruption to normal business activities.

People Management

  • Ensure that clear sales targets and goals are set for all sales staff.
  • Ensure that all sales resources are profiled and recruited accordingly.
  • Facilitate the alignment of all sales structures into a cohesive and complimentary sales force.
  • Foster equity within sales teams, actively ensuring that transformation targets are met.
  • Monitor and manage the performance, development and career planning of acquisition staff.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to staff regarding sales activities
  • Implement appropriate sales training programs in conjunction with stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement an effective reward and recognition system that speaks to individual, and team needs.

Internal and external relationships

  • Relationships with subsidiaries management are critical in performing the role in the cooperative, coordinating and facilitating manner intended.
  • Relationships with Zonal Business and Personal Managers are key in ensuring effective integration of sales segments.
  • Relationship network with key stakeholders in institution, corporate, commercial, SME, and retail sales, as well as with independent financial agents to market product and service offerings.
  • Distribution network and customer channels team.

Business Performance and Growth

  • Drive Group-wide performance typified in set profit, balance sheet expansion and market positioning
  • Prepare and execute comprehensive business plans to facilitate achievement by planning cost-effective operations and market development activities
  • Oversee the company’s financial performance, investments and other business ventures
  • Manage the development and presentation of performance reports and benchmarking activities, coordinate the corporate performance management framework and ensure robust data quality arrangements
  • Ensure that the Asset Management Business continues to make profits and grow investors’ wealth
  • Act as the public speaker and public relations representative in ways that strengthen corporate profile
  • Grow the revenue of the company by increasing income and attracting clients
  • Delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of staff within the business, providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance
  • Ensure the Group and subsidiary business policies and legal guidelines are communicated all the way from the top down in the company and that they are followed at all times
  • Build and maintain transparent relationships with external experts, business partners and authorities
  • Represent the Managing Director in meeting and business calls where necessary

Strategy Formulation and Execution

  • Establish and execute Group goals and objectives, both short-term and long-term
  • Align Group and subsidiary businesses’ goals, processes and resource allocation with the organizational strategy
  • Research and analyze industry, market and competitors to make informed strategy decisions
  • Provide strategic advice to the Group for accurate view of the market and the Group’s future and market positioning.
  • Create initiatives to take advantage of market opportunities, reduce operational threats, forestall business risks and maximize core strengths
  • Recruit, train, coordinate and continually support team leads and all Asset Management staff to maximize output.

New Business Development

  • Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
  • Developing growth strategies and plans
  • Meet Investment/risk targets for individual products and services as set out at the beginning of each fiscal year
  • Preparation of budgets and reviewing timeframes for meeting budget
  • Manage portfolio to balance yields per product and/or service types while continually increasing funding volumes and minimizing assets delinquencies.
  • Identify and mobilize Investments from both individual and corporate entities
  • Monitor market trends and advise executive management accordingly.

Financials

Investment Mobilization target are as follows:

  • N30,000,000,000.00 (Thirty billion naira only) within the first 6-months of resumption
  • N70,000,000,000.00 (Seventy billion naira only) naira only within the following 12-months after (4.11.1.1) above.
  • The targets in (4.11.1.1) and (4.11.1.2) above shall be subject to period weightings as appropriate
  • Customer counts target shall be a minimum of

(i) 2,500 within the first 6-months.

(ii) 6,000 within the next 12-months.

(iii) customer counts thereafter shall be subsequently agreed.

  • Subsequent periods targets and all other variables shall be subject to revisions in line with the Group’s target.

The above mobilization target represents the target for the Business Teams under your management for the period/ subject to:

  • Maximum 3 teams composed of 4 members each
  • All team composition for this purpose shall have the most senior cadre in the Grade of a Senior Associate (this is subject to the team target and an individual target assigned to you).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field (required)
  • MBA, MSc (Finance), or other relevant postgraduate qualification (preferred)
  • Professional certifications such as CFA, CFP, CWM, ICAN, ACCA or equivalent are strong advantages
  • Minimum 10–15 years’ experience in wealth management, private banking, or investment advisory, including leadership roles
  • Proven track record of building and scaling wealth management businesses or platforms
  • Demonstrated experience in client acquisition, retention, and relationship management with HNWIs, UHNWI, family offices, and institutional clients
  • In-depth understanding of investment products, portfolio construction, asset allocation, tax planning, estate planning, and wealth preservation

 

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Deep knowledge of wealth management strategies, financial instruments, private wealth structures, and regulatory frameworks
  • Ability to develop and implement comprehensive go-to-market strategies and revenue plans
  • Experience managing advisory teams, relationship managers, and client service professionals
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms, digital wealth tools, investment research systems, and financial planning software
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to evaluate product performance, fee structures, and revenue models

  • Visionary and strategic thinking with hands-on leadership skills
  • Experience in business planning, team building, talent development, and operational oversight

Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge

  • Understanding of relevant capital market regulations and wealth management compliance requirements (e.g., SEC, CBN, PENCOM where applicable)
  • Track record of operating in a regulated environment and ensuring ethical standards and client confidentiality

 

Communication & Relationship Management

  • Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to represent the firm at high-level client meetings, industry events, and media engagements
